Just as Jesus instructed other to remove the stone from Lazarus’s tomb, so he could come to new life, He also reminds us to remove the stones that keep us in tombs and prevent us from having new life. By emptying oneself and putting everything into God’s hands, it becomes clear that our Lord is accomplishing His great work, since it is impossible for us in our weaknesses to do so. Many cancer patients and their families have found that such difficult circumstances have allowed them to grow considerably in their faith, hope, and love.
